Our Little Flower!

34
So I kind of wish I had started this blog about a year ago when we found out that we were expecting baby #4! We actually found out this baby was coming on Valentine's Day which I thought was quite unique.

Until this baby came along we were an all boy family...3 little boys...2 years apart...very active...and very fun. I had accepted the idea that I was going to be one of those mommies that just had all boys. I actually really loved the idea and was excited at the possibility to have 4 little boys!

When people made comments to me (probably since my second son was born) about having all boys, I would respond, "I love my boys. I wouldn't have it any other way!" I loved the adventures of each day; the bunk beds that turned into pirate ships, the special rocks, the superhero capes, playing prince and princess, the trucks that crash, train tracks all over the room, playing catch, little ties, baseball caps, newsboy hats, airplanes, cars...

But then it happened. At the ultrasound we were all waiting patiently to find out what gender this baby #4 would be (our boys came to the ultrasound appointment). And the tech said, "It's a girl!" I admit I was excited. However, after having 3 boys, and even anticipating a fourth, it did take sometime for the idea of adding pink to all of our blue to sink in!

Well, as of today, this little flower, which we named Violette, has been in our arms for 5 months! What a blessed 5 months it has been! While I do love and adore each of my boys, and I would have been thrilled for another boy, this little girl we have been blessed with has added a new dimension to our family. She has added a new dimension to motherhood for me.

People often ask me the differences of having a girl after the boys...this is where I wanted to document it. I am excited for what the years will bring having a girl. I can't even imagine the adventures I will have with her. I am excited to continue to see how her big brothers will protect her, love her, and help her. I anticipate the way her daddy will continue to adore her and strive to give her everything she ever needed or wanted.

While I have crafted some things for my boys, obviously, there are a lot of other crafty things I will be able to do for her...I must say I am pretty excited for the bows and flower headbands I have yet to make, the cute little dresses or t-shirts, and even shoes!

So stay tuned for our new adventures with a baby girl...our little flower as well as tips and ideas for
raising boys and girls, as well as tutorials of the things yet to craft!
