I believe there are certain things that need to be replenished with each baby, regardless if you are having your second, third, fourth baby of the same gender...or starting again with a new gender. Things like diapers (of course), washcloths and other toiletries, pacifiers, and socks. Well, with baby #4 even though she is our first girl after 3 other babies, we needed to replenish!
I have loved being able to buy or receive girlie things for her like anything pink, tutus, a bracelet, and flowers and bows for her hair.
Little side note - when we were getting ready for this baby to come, to no surprise there was suddenly a lot of pink things coming in the house. Bedding, decor, clothes, blankets, etc. All 3 of our boys were very concerned because they had not seen me make or buy and hair bows or flowers. Needless to say, Violette has not been without a hair accessory from day one! Occasionally one of the boys will pick out her outfit. They bring it to me accessories and all! I love that they are all boy and want her to be all girl! :)
Anyway aside from those things, I found or were given some baby items that I have absolutely loved and kind of wish I had known about these from baby #1. Sometimes it's so hard to know what will be most useful. I wanted to share my favorites with you, so if you are a new mommy, a new mommy again, or know someone who is, who knows maybe these would be your favorites too! (The best part is that these items could be used for a baby boy or baby girl if you switch up the colors!)
***fyi - I am not getting a cent for "advertising" these baby products. They are just products that have worked for me!Also, there are plenty of places to find these items, the links I used are either the places I purchased from, where the gift was purchased, or the original site if I didn't know!***
This pacifier is the greatest thing...it closes when dropped! I totally found it by accident, but so glad I did! Our baby isn't really a paci baby...she's become more of a thumb sucker! However, she took it a lot as a newborn and still occasionally now. I LOVE that I don't have to worry about it dropping and getting the sucker part dirty on the road, in the stadium, the movie theater, at church, anywhere!
I had heard of the Aden and Anias blankets and wasn't really sure of all the hype. When I found out Target sells them I decided to give them a try! I love them. They are the greatest receiving blankets because you can actually swaddle the baby and get them really tight and secure. The dimensions are huge so you can use them to cover the car seat or stroller or use it to cover up while nursing. And because the dimensions are so big, you will use these blankets far beyond the newborn months. The material is thin so during colder months I would double the blanket and it still kept her warm enough but not too hot. I haven't used them in the summer months but understand the material does just the same then too.
I am thrilled that I found this car seat blanket idea. Our winters get so cold, I mean literally beyond freezing, and our baby girl was born late October. So just as the cold was coming. I made it for her just in time for the first big storm. I was so much more comfortable taking her out knowing that she was very bundled and would be warm. If you prefer buying things to making them, leave a comment below and I'd be happy to make it for you!
Have you heard of Trumpette socks? I hadn't. I received some as a gift and thought they were just super cute socks. They are, but they are super cute socks that actually stay on the baby's foot! If you've had a baby before, you know that is exciting because those little socks seem to constantly be slipping off those sweet feet and getting lost! There are the cutest styles too from look alike Mary Jane's, to look alike Vans, to Cowboy boots, sneakers, ballet slippers, etc. There are lots to choose from.
I love my diaper bag! It is a Petunia Pickle Bottom and am pretty lucky it was a gift. These bags are a bit pricey, but they are durable, hold everything for Momma, baby, and everyone else! They clean up easy, come in great colors and I don' think that the one I have looks so diaper bagish. I know they go on sale occasionally. You might catch one on sale if you watch and are patient.
Last but not least, my carriers! Where would a mommy with 4 little ones be without a carrier?! I actually have a few and love all of them for different reasons. Someone made me a sling that is similar to the "Maya Wrap" and I especially loved it during the newborn months. Someone else gave me a Moby Wrap which I have probably used the most (I think this would be easy to make too, as long as you have the right dimensions and the knit that only stretches one way). For me, it is more comfortable than I could have imagined! I think it is pretty comfortable for the baby too as she doesn't even seem to make a peep in it and usually falls asleep! Once you get the wrap/tie part down, it's quite simple to put on.
So there ya have it! For what it's worth, I have loved using each of these items...I probably use them on a daily basis. They are all worth it!
