Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe...We Heart Cookies

34
We love cookies in our house! However, we are not okay with just any cookies. They have to be soft, chewy, delicious, and big! No bite sized, crunchy cookies here! Well, a couple of years ago I was determined to find that perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe, because at that time, we hadn't found a recipe we loved and they often turned out crispy. Which some people I'm sure love, but we don't.

So, when my oldest boy was probably 3 I do believe we found the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe for our family! This little boy has always loved helping in the kitchen. I think he loves to  make things and see what happens with the final result...and of course snitch some bites along the way! He even has his own apron and kitchen tools (which he loves to use)! I have made these cookies so much with him that I think he has it memorized. So hopefully one day this training will pay off and he will make cookies for me!

I love that my little guy thinks that he thinks they are HIS famous cookies!
I'm not going to tell him differently.

Now, I do think these cookies are down right delicious if I do say so myself so make these with caution...you might eat the whole batch!

Here's the recipe we love...hopefully you will love them as much as we do too!

From America's Test Kitchen:

2 cups plus 2 Tbs of all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp table salt
12 Tbs (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
1 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 large egg yolk
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

1. Adjust the oven racks to the upper-middle and lower-middle positions and heat the oven to 325 degrees. Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. Whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt together in a medium bowl; set aside.

3. In a standing mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the butter and sugars at medium speed until smooth, about 1 minute. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla and beat on medium-low speed until fully incorporated, about 30 seconds, scrapping down the bowl and beater as needed with a rubber spatula. Add dry ingredients and mix on low speed until combined, about 30 seconds. Mix in the chocolate chips until just incorporated.

4. Divide the dough into 18 portions, each about 1/2 cup, and roll them between your hands into balls. Holding one dough ball with your fingers, pull the dough apart into two equal halves. Don't smooth out the dough...leave the surface uneven. Place on the baking sheets spacing them about 2 1/2 inches apart.

5. Bake until the cookies are light brown, do not over cook! 15-18 minutes switching and rotating the pans halfway through the baking time. Cool the cookies on a baking sheet.

Then sit down and enjoy with milk and your favorite little ones!
